Featured Herb: American Ginseng
American
Ginseng is an herb that is quickly disappearing from the wild, due to
over-harvesting over many years. Many of the wildcrafters now, unlike
those in the past, take immature roots and don't plant back the seed.
Ginseng takes seven years to mature from seed.
At Teeter Creek Herbs we have been planting and harvesting woods-grown
Ginseng for over 10 years. This is Ginseng that is grown in its natural
woodland habitat. We use the fresh root in making our extract.
The uses of Ginseng has almost become the stuff of legends; yet it is a
valuable herb that is worth the extra cost for certain herb users.
American ginseng is less stimulating than its Asian cousins, and so is
often better tolerated by more people, and can be taken over a longer
period of time. It is for this reason that our Ginseng is highly valued
in Asia.
Traditionally, American Ginseng is taken to boost energy and overall
health for those with chronic fatigue, those recovering from chronic
illness, and those under long-term stress with nervous exhaustion. It is
used as an aid in restoring exhausted adrenal glands. It is used as a
tonic for those with weak digestion and poor appetite. It has been shown
to boost and maintains immune system reserves. It is an aid for those
with weak lungs and dry cough. Ginseng also increases circulation to the
brain to enhance memory and for those with cerebral insufficiency. Some
women have benefited form courses of ginseng to ease hot flashes and
other menopausal discomforts. Finally, Ginseng has a reputation as a
sexual tonic
We feel that Teeter Creek herb's fresh Ginseng extract is one of the finest available.
