Ask the Herbalist

Dear Bob Liebert,

My wife has mastitis. We think it is a body wide candida infection. Please help us with some ideas for using herbs to correct the problem.

John

Dear Friend,

Mastitis is an acute or chronic inflammation usually caused by congested lymph tissue in the breast, which then makes a site where bacterial infection can set in. Herbs are used that de-congest the lymph combined with anti-infective herbs. See herbs in the LYMPHAID Formula; the extracts of ECHINACEA and CALENDULA can be added. There can also be candida infection present, pointing to a run-down immune system in general, for which the two extracts above can also aid. Externally, a cloth dipped in hot water and Slippery Elm or Comfrey powder sprinkled on and applied can help with inflammation.

Yours in healing,
Bob Liebert, herbalist
