Motherwort is used for its heart tonic, nerve calming and female tonic properties. Heart palpitation, angina, weak heart. Atherosclerosis. Cardiac edema. Hyperthyroid symptoms (with Bugleweed). Amenorrhea, painful period (esp. with poor circulation), PMS with tension and irritability, painful periods. Difficult labor. Postpartum bleeding and pain. Menopausal nervous symptoms. Heart tonic in menopause. Weak kidneys with edema.
Dosage: 1/2 to 1 dropperful (20 to 40 drops) in a swallow of water, 2 to 3 x a day
Contraindications: Pregnancy. Heavy menstrual flow. Hypothyroid (low thyroid).
